Set just outside Big Sky Resort in Gallatin County, MT, this 6,597-square-foot spec home was designed to welcome families and large groups with comfort, warmth, and rugged sophistication. The new mountain rustic style blends cedar and white pine siding with Douglas fir timbers and custom wood-and-metal collar tie rafters. Entering from the main level, guests are greeted by a grand, view-framing axis that carries the eye from the front door through the great room to the expansive decks beyond. With a walkout lower level, every bedroom ensuite, and an open-concept layout, the home offers ease and elegance within an alpine setting.

Refined Through Constraint

A low ceiling at the stair landing created a head-height issue, prompting a thoughtful redesign. By shifting the staircase and refining the roofline, we ensured comfortable movement through the space while preserving the home’s flow and its striking timber-framed great room.
